Hand-roasted · Portland, OR

Small Batch.
Big Warmth.

Fire-kissed beans roasted every dawn, poured slow, and served in a room built from reclaimed oak and good company. This is coffee meant to be lingered over.

Our Story

Roasted by Fire, Built by Hand

Two friends, one cast-iron pan, and a stubborn belief that coffee tastes better when it's made with intention.

Ember & Oak began on a cold November night in 2018, when Mara and Theo stood around a backyard fire, roasting green beans in a cast-iron pan and arguing about the perfect first crack. By morning they'd agreed on three things: coffee tastes better kissed by fire, reclaimed oak makes the finest tables, and a shop should feel like a friend's living room.

Today we roast in five-pound batches every dawn, source our beans through direct-trade relationships with growers we know by name, and built every table, shelf, and bar from oak pulled out of old barns and distilleries. We measure success not in cups sold, but in mornings slowed down and conversations stretched out.
